Paws Farm Nature Center - Visiting Paws

Virtual Tour

Paws has many interactive activities for young children and is home to animals of all shapes and sizes.

This side of the main building is home to our two parrots, Mango and Kiwi, some creepy crawly bugs and Penelope and Lily, our red-footed tortoises. This is also where you may find much of the staff and volunteers throughout the day.
This is our Land, Sea and Forest toddler area. It is designed for children under the age of 4 and includes model train sets, ladybug cottage, a sandbox and much more.
The main building is also the home of many of our small animals like Ande the chinchilla, Wilma the Ball Python, Al the ferret, Inessa the hedgehog and more. This room is also used for many of our special classes.
Paws has several picnic areas ideal for eating outside during nice weather and a black path which guides guests around much of the property.
Our Butterfly Garden has a playground with swings and a slide, a gazebo and many flowers and plants which attract butterflies. It is generously maintained by the Country Garden Club of Mount Laurel.
Our outdoor play areas supply endless amounts of fun for children. Whether they are sailing the open seas on the Paws Ark, having tea in the play house or traveling cross-country on the train, children are able to expand their imagination and creativity in a very enjoyable way.
The Farmhouse contains our birthday party room, the Hoot Owl Theater, vet room, as well as many of our small animals. Let's take a closer look.
Our Birthday Party Room is located in the lower level of the farmhouse and is available to guests with party reservations. There is also an outdoor shaded picnic area which guests may use during nice days. For more information on birthday parties, click here.
This is the Hoot Owl Theater. It is located next to the birthday party room in the lower level of the farmhouse, however, the theater is closed on the weekends. The costumes, seating and stage allow children to put on their very own play.
Upstairs in the farmhouse is our new and improved vet room. Complete with check-in desk, grooming station, waiting area, "Doctor Paws" vet kits and scrubs, children are able to pretend they are veterinarians and care for the animals.
Opposite the vet room is another one of our small animal rooms. Some of the animals who live here are Paco, Candy and Sydney the chinchillas, Sinbad the Albino Corn Snake, Oliver the guinea pig, Jessica the Box Turtle and Ebony and Ivory the rats. This room is also used for animal presentations.
From the outside this may appear to be just a barn, however, much more than that is inside. Through the doors are the "Country Market", a chipmunk burrow, puzzles, a chalkboard and more.
In the "Country Market", children can fill their cart with different items from each food group. They can weigh their fruits and vegetables and ring themselves up on the cash register. When they are finished, they can put it all away and start over!
In the chipmunk burrow, children can pretend they live underground and have to collect acorns and learn about how animals store food.
The barnyard is home to most of the larger animals at Paws, like our goats, sheep, pot-bellied pigs, miniature cow, emus, deer, peacocks, chickens, ducks and swan. Sheep and goat food is sold outside to give people the opportunity to feed some of the animals by hand.
This stable is where Tipperary the miniature horse and Belinda and Cocomo the donkeys live.
On the nature trail live some of our more wild animals such as the wallaby, red-tailed hawk, porcupines, owl and skunks. This gives people an opportunity to see exotic animals up-close and learn about their behavior.
Other than animals, Paws Farm is also home to a lot of history. Pictured is the authentic smoke house, blacksmith shop and ice house. To learn more about the history of Paws, click here.

Paws Farm is an exciting and fun place for children and adults to come and explore. Photos can only portray so much of what we have to offer, so take the time to visit, learn something new and, most of all, have fun!
